The Alienware M17x- Out of this world

                                               

The gaming subsidiary of the American PC giant Dell strikes again, this time with an even bigger bang!!
In this review I'll be giving you the lowdown on all the technical specifications of the Alienware M17x along with my personal verdict.


Design- Alienware laptops don't look like they've been designed by humans(no I don't believe in aliens!!). And if they are, we give a thumbs up to the designers just looking at the M17x. It sports a 17.3 inch Wide FHD WLED LCD screen and a 3D bundle(sold separately). Above the screen is a 2.1 MP front facing Full HD camera. It's chassis is filled with ports, namely a power port, 4 SuperSpeed USB 3.0 ports, a USB 2.0 combo port, HDMI 1.3 input and 1.4 output ports, a mini display port, a VGA port and a 9-in-1 Media card reader. The keyboard and mouse pad are ergonomically arranged and is also backlit. Oh yeah!! I almost forgot, it also has an Optical Disk Drive.

Build Quality- The Alienware packs a lot of internal hardware due to which there's a lot of weight on the device; almost 5 kgs!! So it's bulky and thanks to the aluminium construction, it's durable too; it'll take a hammer to take down the M17x(Don't try this at home!!!).


Functionality- Here it comes, the reason why the M17x is the most advance gaming laptop in existence. It's powered by a 3rd Gen Intel Core i7 processor which has a clock speed of 2.6 GHz. That may not sound much for a gaming laptop, but couple the processor with Turbo Boost 2.0 and you get a total 3.6 GHz of speed!! It runs on the Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit OS and has an onboard RAM of 8 GB. The M17x packs a 2GB Nvidia GeForce video card. Looking at the above specs, forget Crysis, you can play almost every single graphically demanding game on Ultra at the utmost ease. The mouse pad of the laptop is placed such that you won't make any accidental presses while typing. Connectivity wise, the M17x supports Intel Centrino Wireless as well as Bluetooth 4.0, helping you latch on to online networks and enjoy multiplayer gaming modes. Not to forget the sound, the M17x explodes your ears in decibels with the Creative Sound Blaster Recon 3D High Definition speakers. Don't worry about storage; because the M17x comes with 1 Terabyte of HDD, enough to store all your gaming files. With the 3d bundle, you can make your games come alive, with in-your-face 3D. Now that's just icing to the cake!!

Pricing- The Alienware M17x has a lot of specs to boast about and one of them is the price tag. It is priced at roughly $1999(USD). It's available in two colours- Nebula Red and Stealth Black(which I personally think is amazing).But hey!! It's in the name of gaming and this is the best gaming laptop in existence. If you have the money and want to buy one, you have to go for the M17x.


The Verdict- Overall, alien-like design, alien-like hardware and alien-like performance; well, you just can't find a better laptop dedicated for gaming. The M17x truly lives up to Alienware standards. Victory never felt so real.
